1998年出道  Eve 6 首支單曲 inside out 就拿下現代搖滾榜冠軍  隨後第二支單曲 leech 也有top 10的成績  算是耀眼的新團
接著第二張專輯 Horrorscope 有 here's to the night 這支出色的單曲撐腰
它雖然沒有在搖滾榜上出頭  但在成人/主流 top 40 電台叩關成功  Hot 100 上也來到#30
是他們目前為止知名度最高的一首歌  也是廣受歡迎的畢業歌

上一篇才介紹了 Chantal Kreviazuk  現在又來一個完美女人!
在澳洲是天后級的 Delta Goodrem 有著天籟的歌聲  天使的臉蛋
不僅如此  她在歌唱事業上也是幾近完美的成績: 出道以來的三張作品全都是澳洲的冠軍專輯  且擁有8支 ARIA 榜冠軍單曲

出道單曲 born to try 跟她在裡面唱出的高音一樣  一鳴驚人  不用說當然是澳洲榜冠軍  而且在top 5居高不下很長一段時間  在英國也拿到#3的好成績
從此連續6支單曲都拿下澳洲榜冠軍  實在厲害

日前  VH1發表了從2000到2009年最棒的100首歌(the 100 greatest songs of the '00s)  由 Beyonce "crazy in love" 拿下#1寶座
很顯然地  這不是按照電台播放/銷量排行榜成績所產生的名單  因為那是 Billboard 的工作  而 Billboard 給我們的冠軍是 Mariah Carey "we belong together" (同樣期間)
Beyonce 在 Billboard 的榜單上名次最好的是 irreplaceable (#25)  crazy in love 則位居#40

這是第一個我完整參與西洋音樂的10年  因此看這份名單特別有感覺
除了還是不知道 VH1 是用什麼方式/方法產生這份名單的之外  發表以下幾點感言:

VH1 basically pretty much ignored rock and country songs, but VH1's selection is at least more market/mainstream oriented compared to lists from other sources.

若以50名為分界點  我認為以下這些歌都不應該落在後50: Kryptonite (3 Doors Down), it wasn't me (Shaggy), you're beautiful (James Blunt), I try (Macy Gray), unwell (Matchbox Twenty), hero (Enrique Eglesias),  how you remind me (Nickelback), bring me to life (Evanescence), bleeding love (Leona Lewis), I'm yours (Jason Mraz)

同樣地  我認為以下這些歌落在前50(或更高的名次)值得商確: Lady Marmalade (因為是翻唱), I kissed a girl (Katy Perry), party in the USA (Miley Cyrus), daughters (John Mayer), get the party started (I love Pink, but this is not one of her best), bootylicious (where's "independent women" if we're pick Destiny's Child's songs?), clocks (Coldplay), in da club (50 Cent)

基本上選這種期間長達10年的名單有個弔詭  因為人都是短期記憶  所以近幾年的歌比較容易因為鮮明的記憶而入選

如果世上有個歌聲讓人一聽著迷  那肯定非 Chantal Kreviazuk 莫屬!
來自加拿大的 Chantal 從1996年出道即獲得 Juno Awards (加拿大音樂獎的最高榮譽)最佳新人提名起  就注定了她不凡的歌唱事業
1998-1999為賣座電影 Armageddon 獻唱老歌 leaving on a jet plane 一曲更建立起全球知名度  讓全世界都聽到她特別的好聲音
2002的專輯 What If It All Means Something 請來成人抒情/流行知名製作人 Gregg Wattenberg 操刀  打造了三支動聽的成人抒情單曲: in this life, feels like home 以及專輯同名曲
2006及2009分別都有專輯問世  雖然不如以往暢銷  但主打單曲也都有相當高的可聽性

Chantal 的嗓音有種說不出的迷人特質穿透人心  同樣的聲音在不同的歌曲裡顯現不同的個性

Forty Foot Echo - brand new day 
電影 Freaky Friday 的原聲帶讓我認識了這首動人的抒情搖滾  同步收錄在該樂團的同名出道專輯
會出現在這個系列的文章裡  可想而知  他們之後再也沒有什麼廣為人知的單曲 

The Foundation - all out of love (ft. Natalie Rossi)
英國的一組電音人馬把 Air Supply 的名曲改編成舞曲版(2003) 

Fountains Of Wayne - Stacy's mon 
小男孩常跟小女朋友 Stacy 混在一起  目的竟然是為了想看到她的媽媽?  歌詞露骨  MV帶著情色的逗趣  Stacy's mom 在當年(2003)為 FOW 這個並不是走主流路線的樂團殺出一條血路  當然也成了他們目前為止最知名度的代表作

Frankie J - don't wanna try 
這個有著優美歌聲的墨西哥裔歌手當年(2003)以這首 don't wanna try 初試啼聲  驚豔市場
但美聲抒情R&B畢竟是黑人的天下  Frankie J 之後雖然持續活動  但沒能再創高峰

Blink 182 - up all night
First single off Blink 182's long waited (8 years), much anticipated new album "Neighborhoods," but I gotta admit: not very impressed by this track. 

Bush - the sound of Winter
Fronted by Gavin Rossdale, who is Gwen Stefani's husband, Bush's second single off their upcoming new album "The Sea Of Memories" is already making its appearance in the top 20 rock tracks.

Carolina Liar - drown
First single off Carolina Liar's brand new sophomore album "Wild Blessed Freedom." 

Cold - American dream / wicked world  
Recommended tracks from Cold's new album "Superfiction," with "wicked world" as the lead single. 

O.A.R. - back to one / gotta be wrong sometimes / world like that

Billy Currington 自從2003年出道以來可說是一帆風順  首張同名專輯二支單曲 I got a feelin', walk a little straighter 都有鄉村榜 top 10 的表現
接下來的成績更上層樓  第二張專輯的首支單曲 must be doin' somethin' right 就登上了冠軍  從此開啟他「拿#1跟喝水一樣簡單」之路  隨後又蒐集了一個「正」字: 五支冠軍單曲
總共六支鄉村榜#1  另有3支 top 10 單曲  在眾多中生代鄉村男歌手中  令人格外眼紅  唯一美中不足的大概是在綜合榜及鄉村榜上都沒拿過冠軍專輯

其中真正讓他獲得較多鄉村樂界之外的注意的是 people are crazy 這首歌  它獲得了 Grammy 最佳鄉村男演唱以及 ACM Awards 年度單曲的提名
歌曲影片也是一絕  講述一個他在酒吧遇到一個老人  兩人相談甚歡  最後老人過逝了把遺產留給他  結果那老人竟然是個百萬富翁  看來這首歌應該改名為 people are crazy (Billy is lucky) 比較恰當 :P

多數朋友可能跟我一樣是從 New Surrender 這張專輯才開始認識 Anberlin  原因是 feel good drag 這支搖滾榜冠軍單曲
這首歌當時可以說是以黑馬之姿登頂  而且如果我沒記錯  它原本已經開始在榜上呈現跌勢  後來卻像補充了燃料一樣  反轉慢慢往上升  最後居然登上冠軍寶座
雖然說 feel good drag 跟他們先前的作品比起來  嗅得出濃濃的商業搖滾味  但不可否認地  它是 Anberlin 建立起主流知名度的敲門磚
有了這樣的基礎  才造就了他們的第一張top 10專輯  也就是在去年(2010)發行的 Dark Is The Way, Light Is A Place  同時首波主打 impossible 也再為他們拿下第二支搖滾榜top 5單曲

2003年出道  在 New Surrender 之前他們其實已經累積了三張專輯  但風格很明顯地就是獨立廠牌製作發行的音樂

由於生活越來越忙碌  不再允許我花很多時間在這裡
因此  從本期的新歌快訊開始  歌曲介紹的部份將會簡化  重點放在資訊整理以及試聽連結
